Since I love talking about beauty and skincare, I thought it was only right that I reach out to an esthetician who truly knows her stuff. Have you ever met someone who claims to do something, but that thing they claim to do is never looking good ON THEM? That’s not okay. Shoni’s skin is always glowing. I’ve never seen it any other way. So, I trust her… and she has gotten me together on more than one occasion.
I asked Shoni a few questions for a brief introduction and you’ll be hearing more from her soon. Cool? Cool.
Q. How long have you been an esthetician and what inspired you to become one?
Shoni: As a child, I would play “spa” with my sisters. I’ve always loved beauty & fashion. In 2009, I became a licensed Esthetician with a focus in medical skincare.
Q. What kind of training and past work experience do you have in the field?
Shoni: I’ve worked in cosmetics for the last 20 years. When I became an Esthetician, I was very fortunate to work with & be trained by some of the top plastic surgeons and doctors in the country. I am licensed in three states & hold certifications in a variety of advanced cosmetic treatments.
Q. What are some of the most common issues that clients come to you for?
Shoni: The biggest request is for even-toned skin along with smooth pores. The facts are we will all age, however, you can do it gracefully with the right combination of products as well as a consistent regimen.
Q. Is there any advice that you find yourself giving most clients? I know that most of us don’t get enough sleep or drink enough water.
Shoni: Besides rest & hydration which of course is essential, I remind clients of consistency. Yes! We all love to try new things. While there is nothing wrong with exploring, use what you have for at least 6-8 weeks (1-2 skin cycles) so that you’re certain of the results your products can bring. Most of us take the occasional selfie, right? Keep track of your skins progress before you throw that serum in the infamous “drawer of broken promises.”
Q. If you could only keep one skincare product out of your current stash, what would it be?
Shoni: Wow! How dare you ask me to choose! Well…I think it would be a serum. I know I could get my face clean. Next I’d be left with the treatment & hydration step. I could take care of that with a serum I could use AM & PM. On the more reasonably priced end, Time In A Bottle. On the more medical grade end Super Serum.
I told y’all to get on those serums… 🙂
I’m so excited to have Shoni here to give us the tea on all things skincare!
Welcome Shoni in the comments and let her know what you want to know.
